Motorcycle oil is the lifeblood of your bike, and it has a number of responsibilities besides getting you going. It lubricates, cools, and cleans your engine and prevents metal-to-metal contact. It also keeps your engine quiet, prevents corrosion, and prevents gases from leaking between the piston rings and cylinder walls.
Motorcycle oil should be replaced every 3,000 to 5,000km, depending on your motorcycle’s manufacturer, engine type, oil type, and riding style. When you need an oil change or a motorcycle oil filter, Taverner Motorsports is ready with the right supplies for your bike.
There’s more than one kind of oil that helps a motorcycle perform at its best. While engine oil makes your bike go, other fluids like brake fluid, transmission oil and chaincase oil work their own kinds of magic. Motorcycle oil filters prevent impurities from causing problems in your engine, while detailing products help you achieve the next level of cleanliness and care. For the biggest range of motorcycle oil filter brands and sizes, check out Taverner’s full selection here at our online shop.
Most motorcycles will require at least three oils to function: engine oil, transmission oil and fork oil.Â
Engine oil lubricates the moving parts of the engine, reduces friction and dissipates heat. The viscosity of engine oil (its thickness or ability to resist motion) is a crucial component. The viscosity of your engine oil should be based on the manufacturer’s recommendations so that it’s not too thin to bear pressure but not too thick to cause too much friction.
Transmission oil, also known as gearbox oil, lubricates the transmission and is essential for smooth gear shifting. Fork oil is used on the internal components of the front forks to lubricate the internal components. Depending on your motorbike model, there may be other oils your bike needs to perform.
No matter what kind of bike you ride, Taverner has the oil required to give you a smooth run. Our stock includes fork oil with anti-rust and anti-corrosion properties, engine oil, chaincase oil, brake fluid, fuel conditioner and coolant.
You might have the highest quality of engine oil, but without a good motorcycle oil filter, pollutants can work their way into your oil and damage your engine. While the recommended frequency of your motorcycle oil filter change depends on your engine and riding style, it’s pretty standard to change the filter every time you change the engine oil: usually once a year or every 4,800 to 9,600 kilometres. Be sure to check the manufacturer’s instructions for information on the filter specifications you should use, including the motorcycle oil filter’s size.
Taverner’s range includes quality oil filter brands, filter housing, oil change kits and oil filter and regulator mount kits. Â
More than just clean and thorough detailing will make your motorcycle look shiny and immaculate and ultimately raise its resale value. Detailing is a process that involves degreasing the chain and visible engine parts, removing tar and grime spots, cleaning and polishing the mufflers and waxing and polishing the wheels. A decent detail can make even an old bike gleam like a brand-spanking new model. If you don’t want to pay for a professional detailing service, you can detail your motorbike yourself in your workshop. All you need is the right products. Taverner’s selection of detailing gear includes motorcycle wash, screen and bike cleaner and detailer spray.
