Motorcycle Cables & Hydraulic Lines Australia

Behind the visible components of your bike, behind its grace and its majesty, there are several different cables pulling the strings. Motorcycle brake lines, clutch cables and other cables may look like plain old pieces of wire, but they have important roles to play in accelerating, braking, shifting gears and generally controlling the way your motorbike moves. No matter what kind of bike you ride, you’re sure to find something that’s right for your model among our collection of clutch cables and hydraulic lines, including braided brake lines for your motorcycle.

Cables have always been a component of motorcycles, but it probably comes as no surprise that they’re not all identical. It’s probably also not a shock that, like every other part of your motorcycle, they need to be taken care of. Whether you have a modern store-bought bike or a custom classic, you’re in the right place to find the motorcycle clutch cables and brake lines for it.

Motorcycle Cables

There are three main kinds of cables in your motorcycle. The throttle cable connects the grip to the carburettor or fuel injection system, and when you twist it, it controls the bike’s acceleration. The motorcycle’s clutch cable links the clutch lever on the handlebars to the mechanism that shifts gears. Brake cables are usually found on older braking systems, like those with drum brakes. Their purpose is to send a force from the brake lever or the pedal to the brake mechanism and force it into action.

Taverner’s cables exceed OEM specifications, are factory-lubricated for consistent, long-lasting operation, and are built to be low-effort and high-efficiency. Features like clear outer jackets provide protection against scuffing, while rubber seals in the transmission fitting eliminate fluid leaks. They’re built to connect easily and without fuss to whatever variety of bikes and significantly reduce installation time.

Motorcycle Hydraulic Lines

Hydraulics is the science of liquids in motion and the forces that they create. In motorcycle terms, hydraulic lines are the lines that transmit that pressure to components like the brake and the clutch. Brake lines push the pressure from the pedal or the brake lever to the callipers, stopping the motorcycle by squeezing the brake discs against the rotor. Clutch lines send the pressure from the clutch lever to the master cylinder, which then engages the component or disengages it. Some higher-end motorcycles even use suspension lines that adjust the damping or the stiffness of the suspension. All of them need inspections and maintenance to make sure they stay functional.

Taverner’s motorcycle brake lines tend to have several benefits in common. They fit ABS and non-ABS models, are compatible with Harley-Davidson ABS requirements, provide protection against scuffing, exceed OEM specifications for fitment, construction, and endurance, and are compliant with FMVSS-106 Australian Design Specifications. All upper brake lines require the purchase of a Lower Designer brake line.
